Ace India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter Virat Kohli appeared to take a parting shot at the Gujarat Titans, as he ended IPL 2026 on a high, with a match-winning knock in the finals to take RCB to their second consecutive title.
The win made Royal Challengers Bengaluru only the third team in IPL history to win consecutive titles, joining the elite company of Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians.
Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, RCB moved into fourth place on the list of the IPL’s most successful teams as well, behind the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, who have five titles each and Kolkata Knight Riders, who have won three championships.
“Trophy aava de and home jaava de, thank you very much,” Kohli said while speaking
to Mr Nags, i.e comedian Danish Sait, in a post-match video posted by Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Aava De is the Gujarat Titans’ tagline.
Meanwhile, it needs to be seen if Kohli flies back ‘home’ to London, where he is currently based with his family, or stays back in India, with a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan starting in less than two weeks.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru once again justified their auction strategy on Sunday, May 31, as they outclassed the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad to clinch the IPL 2026 title.
The win bagged RCB’s second successive championship, a year after they ended their 18-year wait for a maiden IPL crown.
On the night of the final, Royal Challengers Bengaluru appeared the more composed and confident team, outplaying the Gujarat Titans, who struggled to make an impact in any department despite enjoying home advantage in Ahmedabad.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru would hope that a mega auction isn’t introduced anytime soon, given how many of their cricketers have continued to elevate their performances and develop into match-winners with each passing season.
RCB’s mindset this season wasn’t to defend their title; it was to chase for another trophy. They walked the talk on that front.
