A new entertainment initiative blending comedy, history, and public outreach is moving into development, bringing together an unexpected on-screen pairing and federal backing tied to a major upcoming national milestone.
Actor Chris Pratt is set to headline a series of short-form comedy videos centred on American history, alongside Pulitzer Prize-winning presidential historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. The project, currently untitled, is being developed by digital media studio ATTN: and has been described internally as a light, comedic take on key moments and figures from U.S. history.
The format will feature Pratt attempting to engage with and explain historical events, while often discovering gaps in his understanding, leading to humorous corrections
and clarifications. Goodwin will appear as both an on-screen guide and behind-the-scenes authority, serving as executive producer and editorial advisor to ensure historical accuracy.
Industry veteran Alex Gregory, known for his work on *Veep* and *White House Plumbers*, is attached as a producer on the project.
According to details shared by the creators, the series has received support from the U.S. Department of State’s Office of Public Diplomacy and Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The funding is intended to support initiatives that “inform and engage foreign publics about America through international media engagement, educational and cultural exchange programs, digital communications, and outreach conducted through U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide,” per an official announcement.
Producers have framed the shorts as a public diplomacy effort designed to present American constitutional values and historical narratives to international audiences through modern, digital-first storytelling.
The concept has been informally referred to as a “Faster Class” in U.S. history. Each installment is expected to focus on a specific constitutional principle or historical moment, using a mix of live-action sequences and animation. The format aims to balance education with entertainment, pairing Pratt’s comedic delivery with Goodwin’s academic perspective.
Speaking about the initiative, ATTN: co-founder and CEO Matthew Segal highlighted the broader intent behind the project. “At ATTN:, we’re always looking for new ways to make important topics accessible to broader audiences,” said Matthew Segal, ATTN: co-founder and CEO. “America’s 250th anniversary presents a unique diplomacy opportunity to reintroduce the stories, principles, and people that shaped the nation. Chris and Doris are an unexpected but perfect pairing, bringing together entertainment and expertise in a way that feels informative, entertaining, and distinctly modern.”
ATTN:, founded in 2014, positions itself as a nonpartisan media company focused on civic engagement and public education. Over the years, it has collaborated with a wide range of political and cultural figures, including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Jill Biden, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Ann Romney.
As development continues, the project is being positioned as part of broader cultural programming tied to America’s 250th anniversary, aiming to connect historical education with accessible, short-form digital content for global audiences.
