New Delhi, Sep 30 (PTI) Over 400 square metres of commercial space at Bhaisali Namo Bharat station in Meerut has been offered for leasing, with the space located in a busy commercial area close to Abu Lane, Lal Kurti Bazaar and Sadar Bazaar.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has invited bids through an e-tendering process for selecting a licensee to lease the commercial space on the concourse level of the underground station, the corporation said in a statement on Wednesday.
Bhaisali station is situated on Delhi Road, about a kilometre from Begumpul, a major commercial area in Meerut. Its location near prominent markets and dense residential areas makes the station a potential destination for retail, food and beverage and other
businesses, it said.
The commercial space can be used for retail outlets, co-working spaces, coaching centres, offices, food and beverage outlets, convenience stores, service centres and other commuter-focused facilities.
The station also has multi-modal connectivity, with a bus stand located outside offering services to Delhi, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Roorkee and Haridwar. Meerut City Railway Station is also located nearby, according to NCRTC.
The station is connected to the Delhi-Meerut Highway and Meerut Expressway, providing access towards Delhi and other parts of the region. NCRTC said such facilities within station premises would provide greater convenience to commuters while catering to the daily needs of residents and visitors in surrounding areas.
The initiative is part of NCRTC’s efforts to develop station complexes as commercial hubs and encourage participation from local vendors, entrepreneurs, traders and service providers. It is also aimed at creating business and employment opportunities and increasing non-fare revenue, the statement read.
The Namo Bharat corridor has recorded more than 4.5 crore passenger journeys cumulatively, with average daily passenger journeys of around 1.1 lakh. The highest daily ridership recorded on the corridor is about 1.68 lakh, according to NCRTC. PTI SHB APL
