The 2026 season of the Women’s Premier League dished out two entertaining fixtures on Saturday as the Gujarat Giants got the better of UP Warriorz, while the Mumbai Indians posted a win over Delhi Capitals.
Gujarat beat the Warriorz by 10 runs in the first game of the double-header as Georgia Wareham and Ashleigh Gardner starred for GG, while Mumbai routed Delhi by 50 runs thanks to fifties from Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt and three-fers from Nicola Carey and Amelia Kerr.
GG Vs UPW:
The Warriorz won the toss against the Giants and opted to bowl first as GG went on to post a total of 207 runs for the loss of 4 wickets riding on Ashleigh Gardner’s 65 runs off just 41 deliveries. Anushka Brijmohan Sharma added 44 runs off 30 deliveries to aid
GG’s cause, while Sophie Devine chipped in with 38 runs.
Sophie Ecclestone was the star with the ball for UP as she claimed a couple of wickets while Shika Pnadey and Deandra Dottin scalped a wicket each.
The Warriorz went in chase of the target and faltered early on as Kiran Navgire fell cheaply to Renuka Singh, before Meg Lanning and Phoebe Litchfield built a partnership.
Lanning fell to Georgia Wareham for 30 off 27, before Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma fell cheaply. Swetha Sehrawat added 25 runs before Litchfield brought up her half-century.
Devine, who managed to remove Litchfield also got rid of Ecclestone for 11 off 8, while Asha Sobhana and Pandey remained unbeataen on 27 and 1 respectively as the UPW fell short by 10 runs.
MI Vs DC:
Holders Mumbai were put to bat first as Delhi won the toss and opted to bowl first as Amelia Ker fell for a duck and Kamalini Gunalan was dismissed for 16. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and star Nat Sciver-Brunt put up a olid partnership for the third wicket, with both batters reaching their fifty-run milestone before the latter fell to Sri Charani for 70.
Nicola Carey added 21 runs before falling prey to Nandini Sharma, while Harmanpreet and Sajeevan Sajana remained unbeaten on 74 and 5 runs respectively.
Chinelle Henry was the lone-ranger for DC with the bat as she was the only player to surpass the half-century mark for the Capital City side as Carey and Kerr ran through the Delhi batting order with a three-fer each.
Sciver-Brunt bagged a couple of wickets, while Shabnim Ismael and Sanskriti Gupta picked up a scalp each to limit Delhi to 145 runs in 19 overs and claim a 50-run win.
