Pakistan captain Shan Masood was involved in a tense on-field exchange with Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim on Day 3 of the ongoing second Test in Sylhet.
With Bangladesh already leading the series 1-0, the hosts are pushing for a clean sweep. Rahim starred with his 14th Test hundred on Monday, putting Bangladesh firmly in control. However, attention briefly shifted to the heated argument between the veteran batter and the Pakistan skipper, with clips of the incident going viral on social media.
The incident occurred just before the start of the 79th over of Bangladesh’s second innings on Day 3 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan captain Shan Masood was seen in discussion with the umpires and his teammates before play
resumed.
Mushfiqur Rahim, well set at the crease, was then heard on the stump mic urging the skipper to “get on with the game.” The remark appeared to irritate Masood, leading to a heated exchange between the two in the middle, which also energised the Sylhet crowd during a tense passage of play.

Mushfiqur Rahim struck a superb 137 as Bangladesh set Pakistan a daunting 427-run target in the second Test after a dominant third day in Sylhet. The hosts were bowled out for 390 in their second innings, with Litton Das contributing 69 in a crucial 123-run fifth-wicket stand.
At 39, Mushfiqur brought up his 14th Test century—surpassing Mominul Haque’s record—continuing a prolific run that includes eight tons since 2022. Resuming on 110/3, Bangladesh lost skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto early, but Mushfiqur and Litton steadied the innings. Taijul Islam added valuable lower-order runs before becoming one of Sajid Khan’s three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad picked up four.
Pakistan’s openers, Azan Awais and Abdullah Fazal, survived two overs before bad light ended play. Chasing 427, Pakistan must surpass their highest successful chase of 377. Despite the steep task, bowling coach Umar Gul remained optimistic, stressing the importance of partnerships and positive intent. Bangladesh, leading the series 1-0, believe scoreboard pressure could prove decisive.
