Vijayendra Kumeria's 'Juhi Mui' Revolves Around An Autistic Girl, Actor Says 'It Felt Different'

Actors hear dozens of narrations every year, but only a handful stay with them after the meeting ends. For Vijayendra Kumeria, Juhi Mui turned out to be one of those rare projects. The actor, who has built a career by taking on varied roles rather than sticking to a single image, says the show’s core idea immediately caught his attention. Instead of following a familiar television formula, the story revolves around an autistic girl and the experiences that shape her life.

Recalling his first reaction to the script, Vijayendra says it was the subject that stood out before anything else. “What really worked for me was the freshness of the story. The moment I got to know that it was centred around an autistic girl and her journey, I became curious.

It felt different. As an actor, you naturally get excited when a narration offers something you haven’t heard repeatedly.”

The more he learnt about the project, the stronger his interest became. “My role is closely connected to that journey and has a lot to contribute to the overall story. That was important for me. I wasn’t looking at it as just another character entering and exiting scenes. There is substance in the part, and that made the decision easier.”

Apart from the story and the role, there was another reason the project felt special. Vijayendra is returning to Colors TV with Juhi Mui, years after working with the channel on Naagin 4. The reunion added an extra layer of comfort and familiarity to the experience.

“I am also getting an opportunity to work with Colors again after Naagin 4. There are certain people and platforms you have good memories with, so coming back always feels nice. When all these things came together—the story, the character and the chance to collaborate with Colors again – it felt like the right project at the right time.”

For now, Vijayendra is looking forward to audiences discovering the world of Juhi Mui. If his excitement is anything to go by, it was a script that managed to leave an impression on him from the very first narration itself.
