Amid growing speculation about Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s well-being, his son, Kasim Khan, has come to the spotlight.
The chief of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, has been languishing
in jail since August 2023 on multiple charges, including corruption and terrorism. Amid widespread rumours circulating on social media claiming that he had been killed in custody, Kasim Khan stated in a post on X that his family had “no proof of life,” appealing for intervention from the international community.
Who Is Kasim Khan?
Kasim Khan is the younger son of Imran Khan and his ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, a British TV producer and screenwriter. The 26-year-old is the founder of the Mifu app. He officially unveiled his venture, Mifu Marketing, along with the launch of the Mifu app — a marketing platform — in 2023.
Through Mifu Marketing, Kasim aims to facilitate connections between influencers and brands using his app. Jemima and Imran has one more son, Sulaiman Isa Khan.
Kasim Khan’s Warning To Pakistani Authorities
On Thursday, Kasim Khan alleged that his father has been subjected to total isolation in jail for six weeks, with no family contact, no legal access and “no proof of life.” In a post on X, Kasim accused the Pakistani government of deliberately concealing Khan’s condition and violating court orders that allow his family to meet him.
“My father has been under arrest for 845 days. For the past six weeks, he has been kept in solitary confinement in a death cell with zero transparency,” Kasim wrote.
He said that despite clear judicial directions, officials had barred every attempt by Khan’s sisters to visit him. “His sisters have been denied every visit, even with clear court orders allowing access,” he added.
According to Kasim, the former premier has been completely cut off from the outside world. “There have been no phone calls, no meetings and no proof of life. Me and my brother have had no contact with our father,” he said, describing the situation as a severe escalation in restrictions imposed over the past month and a half.
Calling the blackout deliberate rather than procedural, Kasim alleged political motive behind the isolation.
“This absolute blackout is not a security protocol. It is a deliberate attempt to hide his condition and prevent our family from knowing whether he is safe,” he wrote.
Issuing a warning to authorities, he mentioned, “Let it be clear: the Pakistani government and its handlers will be held fully accountable legally, morally and internationally for my father’s safety and for every consequence of this inhumane isolation.”
Kasim’s post ended with a plea, “I call on the international community, global human rights organisations and every democratic voice to intervene urgently. Demand proof of life, enforce court ordered access, end this inhumane isolation and call for the release of Pakistan’s most popular political leader who is being held solely for political reasons.”
