Faridabad, Sep 17 (PTI) Eleven suspected members of five distinct vehicle-theft gangs have been arrested, police said here on Thursday.
Twenty-one stolen vehicles, including 16 motorcycles, three auto-rickshaws, a scooter, and a JCB machine were recovered from their possession.
According to police, the team of anti-vehicle theft staff (AVTS), Bhupani arrested the gang members from various locations for alleged involvement in vehicle theft cases. This operation was carried out over the past three weeks.
Based on the interrogation of the accused, police recovered stolen vehicles from them.
The five vehicle theft gangs include Sahil-Dhirendra gang, Rahul-Amir gang, Faisal-Mufid-Rashid gang, Faizal-Moshim alias Sahid gang and Fazzar gang, police said.
“The criminal records of the arrested accused are being scrutinised. Information has come to light indicating that cases related to vehicle theft and other incidents of theft have previously been registered against them. The police are subjecting them to intensive interrogation.
“There is a possibility of obtaining crucial information from the accused regarding other vehicle theft incidents, the network involved in disposing of stolen vehicles, and other members of the gangs,” said Aman Yadav, ACP (crime), Faridabad. PTI COR SKY SKY
