Compass Jammies, a project dedicated to building an ecosystem for independent music and artists, launched CompassInk, India’s newest print magazine dedicated exclusively to independent music. Unveiled
at Raasta Bombay, the launch marks an electric celebration of indie artistry, community, and live performances.
The evening opened with a vibrant pop-rock set by SheHar, setting the tone for a night. Magazine cover stars folk-fusion band Sochh followed with a robust performance, which included a Marathi folk fusion number. The night concluded with a high-energy headline act by Neeraj Arya’s Kabir Cafe, who kept the crowd on their toes with their signature folk-fusion sound.
Malini Agarwal hosted the event with her effortless charm and vibed to the music. The magazine was officially unveiled by music composers Sulaiman Merchant and Naresh Kamath, alongside CompassInk and Compass Jammies founder Sujeet Ramanna, and the magazine’s editor-in-chief Dhaval Roy.
The launch drew an enthusiastic turnout of artists, creators, and industry well-wishers. Notable attendees included Mandira Bedi, singers Antara Nandy and Ankita Nandy, Crescendo Music and Sunshine Music’s Suresh Thomas, Anu Agarwal, Rajshri Deshpande, Anaida, Karan Chugh, Mallika Mehta, Vee Kapoor, and DJ Tina G Bedi, among others.
In true Compass Jammies spirit, the night also saw spontaneous performances by Dipesh Varma, who played mouth percussion alongside the mridangam maestro Sridhar Parthasarathy, and Amit Padhye on harmonium. The latest I-Popstar sensation, Maan Panu, also took the stage for a track, adding to the celebratory energy of the evening.
CompassInk’s debut marks a milestone for India’s independent music culture, offering a dedicated platform for artists, stories, and movements shaping the sound of a new generation.
