If there is one absolute rule of the Cannes Film Festival, it’s that Urvashi Rautela will make sure you look at her accessories. While most celebrities spend months debating the train of their gowns or the carat weight of their diamonds, Urvashi has carved out her own unique niche which includes turning high-fashion evening bags into viral internet moments.
Her latest fashion statement arrived at the highly prestigious amfAR Gala Cannes, an annual star-studded, black-tie charity event held at the iconic Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France. As the ‘only Indian actress’ invited to the ultra-exclusive gala this year, the pressure was on to deliver a major style moment.
For the evening, she wore a heavily embellished, silver off-shoulder gown
designed by Joli Poli Couture. Covered in intricate beadwork and stone embroidery with a sheer skirt, she styled the outfit with a retro feather boa resting on her elbows, giving major old-Hollywood energy. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek, side-parted bun, and her makeup featured shimmery eyeshadow and a bold winged liner.
But we did not look at the dress long enough. Our eyes were locked on her right hand, where she was casually holding an Espresso Martini glass. And it was, as expected, a gorgeous and quirky purse.
Created by the luxury label Judith Leiber, the “Martini Espresso” clutch is covered entirely in deep, mocha-toned crystals. The design features a faux crystal “froth” around the rim and is topped off with three sparkling, perfectly placed espresso beans. Open it up, and you’ll find a metallic leather lining and a small, functional mirror.
The price of this hyper-realistic caffeine container is USD 5,795 on the website, which translates to roughly ₹5.5 lakh. The actress has a long-standing love affair with Judith Leiber’s campy, surrealist designs. Remember her viral parrot clutch? It was from the same brand.
