On April 2, the makers of Ramayana unveiled its much-anticipated teaser, giving audiences the first look at Ranbir Kapoor stepping into the role of Lord Rama. The visually rich teaser offers a sneak peek into the film’s massive scale and ambitious storytelling, instantly grabbing attention on social media. Dipika Chikhlia, widely remembered for her iconic portrayal of Goddess Sita in Ramayan, recently spoke to India Today and shared her views
on Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming directorial. Ranbir Kapoor’s look as Lord Rama has sparked mixed reactions online, with many comparing it to Prabhas’s Adipurush. During her interaction with the portal, the veteran actress said that she liked the teaser and that she is now waiting to watch the film on the big screen.
Dipika said, “I watched the teaser and it’s very grand. Bahut rich lag raha hai. Unhone bahut achhe se banaya hai. So now I’m awaiting the film and it’s looking very beautiful, there’s no doubt about it.”

Dipika Chikhlia rose to immense popularity in the late 1980s with Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, a show that continues to be one of Indian television’s most iconic offerings. Her portrayal of Sita struck a deep chord with audiences, earning her widespread admiration. Even years later, many still fondly remember her as the face of Sita.
Meanwhile, Ramayana is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and backed by Namit Malhotra. It will feature Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, while Yash will be seen as Ravana and Sunny Deol will portray Hanuman’s character. Ravie Dubey will be seen playing the role of Lord Rama’s brother, Lakshman. The epic mythological is one of the most awaited films of 2026, with the first part releasing on Diwali this year and the second part slated for Diwali 2027 release.
