The crash occurred around 9 am, roughly an hour after the aircraft had taken off from Mumbai.
Visuals from the site, apart from the CCTV clip, showed raging flames, mangled remains of the plane scattered across the ground, and ambulances rushing to the area as locals tried to extend help in every possible way.
Emergency services and senior security officials were deployed immediately after the aircraft reportedly lost control during the landing phase.
Rescue teams reached the spot soon after, while three bodies were rushed to the Baramati Medical College.
The Pune Superintendent of Police said that the process of identifying the bodies was underway.
A team of DGCA officials also arrived at the crash site to conduct an assessment, with authorities stating that more details were awaited.
Pawar was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati to attend a public meeting amid the ongoing elections to the Zilla Parishads and Panchayat Samitis.
Following news of the tragedy, his family rushed towards Baramati.
His wife and party MP Sunetra Pawar, son Parth, and his cousin and NCP-SP working president Supriya Sule were preparing to leave from Delhi for the crash location.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government declared three days of state mourning as a mark of respect to the late Deputy Chief Minister. The mourning period will be observed from January 28 to January 30.
As per official instructions, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly displayed, and there will be no official entertainment during the mourning period.
All state government offices across Maharashtra will remain closed on Wednesday on account of Pawar’s demise.
The directive, issued under the signature of Under Secretary HP Baviskar, instructed all authorities concerned to take immediate action and ensure strict compliance with the orders.
As investigators continue their work at the site and official agencies gather evidence from the wreckage and the CCTV footage, authorities said further information on the circumstances leading to the crash would be released in due course.
