Mallika Sagar is set to return to the room as the auctioneer for the Indian Premier League 2026 Mini Auction, slated to be held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Tuesday, the 16th of December 2025.
Sagar caught the
eyes of the public in 2021 when she became the first woman auctioneer for the Pro Kabaddi League, shatterring the glass-ceiling in a field dominated by men.
Sagar gained widespread recognition after serving as the auctioneer for the inaugural Women’s Premier League auction in 2023, followed by the IPL 2024 mini-auction. She later officiated the prestigious IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah and led the WPL 2026 auction earlier this year.
A Mumbai-based art collector and consultant, Sagar specializes in Modern and Contemporary Indian art. She studied in Connecticut and earned a degree in Art History from Bryn Mawr College in Philadelphia.
Sagar’s passion for auctioneering was inspired by a book she read as a child, which featured a woman auctioneer. Her career began at Sotheby’s London in 2001, and she made history as the first woman auctioneer of Indian origin at Christie’s at just 26 years old.
In 2023, Mallika achieved another milestone by becoming the first Indian individual to lead an auction for an Indian T20 league. Over the years, auctioneers like Richard Madley and Hugh Edmeades have become familiar faces at IPL auctions, but Mallika has firmly established her place in this prestigious field.
Sagar is a partner at Art India Consultants and has extensive experience conducting auctions with Pundoles, a renowned Mumbai-based art gallery.
