Virat Kohli opened the innings for Royal Challengers Bengaluru alongside Phil Salt in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, April 12, and stitched together a 120-run stand off 65 balls.
The century partnership not only gave RCB a strong start at Wankhede Stadium but also etched Kohli’s name into the record books.
With this stand, Kohli registered his 47th 100-plus partnership in T20 cricket, becoming the player with the most century stands in the format’s history.
He is followed by Chris Gayle and Babar Azam – both involved in 46 plus partnerships in T20s.

Kohli, who is playing his 271st IPL match for RCB on Sunday, was dismissed by Hardik Pandya on the fourth ball of the 15th over. He made 50 runs from 38 balls and scored 5 fours and 1 six.
During his stay at the crease Kohli also completed 1000 runs in T20s against Mumbai Indians. He is the first batter in the world to score 1000 runs in T20s vs Mumbai Indians.
KL Rahul is in 2nd place with a total of 977 runs in 21 T20 matches vs Mumbai Indians, and Shikhar Dhawan takes 3rd position with 901 runs in 28 matches.
