Jyotika Backs Student Protest, Pens Down Strong Note: 'I Stand With Democratic India'

Actress Jyotika has also come out in support of Cockroach Janta Party’s protest. On Saturday morning, she took to her Instagram handle and shared a strongly-worded post, demanding Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Jyotika mentioned that she stands with the protesting students and hailed them for making others ‘fearless’.

“Step down Dharmendra Pradhan. Resign. I stand with the students and future of our nation! I stand with accountability! I stand for a democratic India! I stand for a reformed education! Sonam Wangchuk. Abhijeet Dipke and Saurav Das, as mothers we want to raise our children to be like you (sic),” she wrote.

“Proud of your Gen Z’s for being unfiltered. You have proved that together ‘WE’ are India. Thank you for breaking

the pressure. Thank you for making us fearless. CJP (sic),” Jyotika added.

Soon after the post was shared, netizens reacted to it and thanked Jyotika for backing their protest. “No filter, just straight up! Thank you, Jyothika ma’am! 🔥👏❤️,” one of the users wrote. “@jyotika i don’t think any other “celebrity” dared to do this. Growing up watching your films, I loved you as an actor, however, today, I admire your humanness. I hope this doesn’t cause you any backlash and I hope to God you and your beloved family stay safe,” added another.

Jyotika is not the first actress to back CJP. Several others, including Shabana Azmi, Sonu Sood, Prakash Raj, Salman Khan and Riteish Deshmukh have also come out, expressing their support for the CJP. Previously, in a long note on his social media, Diljit Dosanjh also condemned the violence witnessed during the protests and called on authorities to engage with the students’ demands. He said students should not be mistreated and appealed for a peaceful and constructive resolution.
