Fans of Asur may not have to wait much longer for the next chapter. The popular crime thriller is reportedly getting ready to return with its third season, and this time, there are some changes behind the camera as well as a new face joining the cast.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, Asur 3 is expected to go on floors in September 2026. Actress Shweta Basu Prasad has reportedly joined the cast of the show. Arshad Warsi and Barun Sobti are also set to return as Dhananjay Rajpoot and Nikhil Nair.
The third season will reportedly have Gaurav Shukla in the director’s chair. He created and wrote the first two seasons, while Oni Sen directed both parts.
A source told Pinkvilla, “Shweta Basu Prasad is joining the cast, and Gaurav Shukla will take over
the director’s chair this season,”
Apart from directing, Gaurav is also reportedly set to produce the new season. The script is said to be ready and the team is now preparing to start filming.
Asur first premiered on Voot in 2020, with Arshad and Barun playing the lead roles. The second season arrived on JioCinema in 2023 and also received a strong response from viewers.

On the work front, Arshad was last seen in Dhamaal 4 alongside Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi and Sanjay Mishra. The film earned Rs 164.75 crore in India and Rs 226.54 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk.
He will next feature in Golmaal 5, which also stars Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade and Tusshar Kapoor. While there were reports of a December release, the makers have denied them.
