Glenn Phillips will be a key player for New Zealand in the fifth T20I against India on Sunday (November 1). In the fixture, scheduled to take place at Seddon Park in Hamilton, the right-handed batter will have a chance to break the all-time T20I record for the most runs in a bilateral series.
Phillips, who scored 107 runs off 49 balls in the fourth T20I against India on Friday (October 30), has amassed a total of 276 runs in the ongoing series and needs 56 more runs to break the all-time record.
As of now, the record for the most runs in a bilateral T20I series is held by England’s Phil Salt. Salt played five T20Is against the West Indies in December 2023 and scored 331 runs.
In the list of players with the most runs in a bilateral T20I series,
Salt is followed by Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan played six T20Is against England in 2022 and scored 316 runs.
