Digital Connexion- a joint venture between Reliance Industries, Brookfield and US-based Digital Realty- announced a $11 billion (Rs 98,000 crore) investment plan to build 1 gigawatt of AI-native, purpose-built data centres in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam by 2030. The digital infrastructure firm said the facilities will be developed across 400 acres and designed to support next-generation AI workloads at massive scale.
The investment marks one of the largest commitments to data infrastructure in India and comes just weeks after Google announced a $15 billion investment to set up an AI hub and data centres in Visakhapatnam.

MoU Signed With Andhra Pradesh Government
Digital Connexion said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board to formalise the proposed investment. The project is expected to significantly boost the state’s position as an emerging AI and cloud hub.
What Data Centres Will Offer
According to the company, the new data centre parks will be fully optimised for artificial intelligence, incorporating future-ready systems, high-density racks, robust substations and redundant power feeds to deliver seamless performance for hyperscalers and large enterprises. The design is aimed at meeting the heavy computational and storage demands expected in the coming decade as AI adoption accelerates across industries.
Existing Presence In India
Digital Connexion already operates a large campus in Chennai and is building another facility in Mumbai’s Chandivali area. Both sites offer low-latency, carrier-neutral connectivity and the Visakhapatnam expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s footprint across major digital corridors in India. The company said the Andhra Pradesh facilities will help position India as a major global hub for AI infrastructure and advanced data processing in the Asia-Pacific region.
