New Delhi, June 18 (PTI) Online admission process for Children With Special Needs (CWSN) seeking admission to entry-level classes in private schools under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG) and CWSN quota for current academic session has begun, with applications being accepted till June 30, officials said on Thursday.
According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Education on Monday, the online application module for CWSN candidates was opened on Tuesday and will remain available till June 30. The date for the second computerised draw of lots will be announced later.
The admissions are being conducted for entry-level classes, including pre-school, pre-primary and Class 1, in private unaided recognised schools,
excluding minority institutions, under provisions of the Right to Education (RTE) Act and the Delhi School Education Act and Rules, it stated.
The Directorate said seats for children with disabilities will be reserved within the 25 per cent quota earmarked for EWS and DG categories. It also clarified that applicants under the CWSN category are not required to submit an income certificate.
The admissions will be carried out through a computerised online draw of lots. Parents can apply through the EWS admission portal and are allowed to submit only one application for each child. Multiple applications for the same child will lead to cancellation of candidature, the circular said.
The DoE said a child can avail the benefit of admission under the CWSN category only once. However, applicants who were allotted a school in the first draw but did not take admission, or those who were not allotted any school, may apply again after deleting the previously submitted form.
As per the guidelines, applicants must possess a valid disability certificate issued by a government hospital in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. In certain cases involving intellectual disability, specific learning disability or autism spectrum disorder, assessment or diagnostic reports from government hospitals may be considered until the disability certificate is issued.
The age criteria prescribed for admissions are three to seven years for pre-school, four to eight years for pre-primary and five to nine years for Class 1 as on March 31, 2026.
The Directorate also warned that admission may be cancelled if incorrect residential address details, forged documents or duplicate applications are detected at any stage of the admission process. PTI SHB SHB MDO MDO
