Berhampur (Odisha), Aug 9 (PTI) At least eight ‘kanwariyas’, devotees of Lord Shiva, were injured on Sunday after a mini-truck on which they were travelling overturned in Odisha’s Ganjam district, police said on Sunday.
The accident took place near Kaliabali under the Chamakhandi Police Station limits when the vehicle with around 20 people on board fell on its side, a senior officer said.
The devotees of Lord Shiva were travelling from Jagdalpur near here to fetch water from the Rushikulya river when the accident occurred, Chamakhandi Police Station inspector-in-charge Sradhanjali Subudhi said.
They planned to visit Aleswara Shiva temple and offered prayers on Monday, she said.
The injured persons, including the driver of the vehicle, were admitted
to the sub-divisional hospital at Chhatrapur for treatment.
Later, three of them, who sustained grievous injuries, were shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, the officer said.
The condition of all the injured persons was stated to be out of danger, she said.
