India are taking on Namibia in their second Group A match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Thursday (February 12). In the fixture currently underway at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, India posted a total of 209/9 in 20 overs after Namibia skipper Gerhard Erasmus won the toss and invited the hosts to bat first. Despite the absence of world No. 1 T20I batter Abhishek Sharma, Indian batters made a super start in the match and crossed the 100-run mark in just 6.5 overs.
The 100 by India in 6.5 overs on Thursday helped them break the record of scoring the fastest team hundred in T20 World Cup history. The previous record was held by the Netherlands. The Dutch team needed 7 overs to get there (100-run mark) against Ireland in Sylhet in 2014.
For India, Ishan Kishan played a knock of 61 runs from just 24 balls on Thursday. During his stay at the crease, the left-handed batter from Patna, who represents Jharkhand in domestic cricket, slammed 6 fours and 5 sixes. He added 79 runs from 31 balls for the second wicket with Tilak Varma. Ishan, who is India’s first-choice wicketkeeper-batter in the T20 World Cup 2026, needed just 20 balls to score a half-century against the Namibian team.
