3 Dead, 2 Injured After Fire Breaks Out At Four-Storey Building In South Delhi

Three people were killed, and two women suffered injuries after a massive fire broke out at a four-storey building in south Delhi’s Tigri Extension of Sangam Vihar on Saturday, according to police officials.

Police received a PCR call about a fire at a footwear shop on the ground floor of the building and rushed to the spot. They found the entire building engulfed in flames. The fire is believed to have started from the footwear shop on the ground floor before spreading upward, a senior officer told news agency PTI.

Three people were found

dead at the spot, while two injured women were rescued from the building and shifted to a hospital, where their condition is being monitored, the officer said.

One of the deceased has been identified as Satender, who was also the owner of the building, according to a report by India Today. The reason for the sudden blaze is yet to be determined.

Crime and forensic teams have been called to inspect the site, and evidence is being collected to ascertain the cause of the fire, according to police. Further investigation is underway.

In a separate incident, a 60-year-old man was killed after the hut he was sleeping in allegedly caught fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur on Saturday, PTI reported. Rampal Srivastava, who had been ailing for a long time, was sleeping in a hut built outside his house on Friday night after eating dinner, and the house caught fire at some point, police said.

All attempts to extinguish the blaze failed, and Srivastava was burned alive inside the hut, said Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Dwivedi. The charred body was sent for post mortem and an investigation was initiated.
