Mumbai Indians have made four changes to their playing XI for the IPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Monday, April 20. Uncapped Indian batter Danish Malewar and spinner Krish Bhagat are making their IPL debut for Mumbai Indians against the Shubman Gill-led side at Narendra Modi Stadium. In addition to them, New Zealand’s T20I captain Mitchell Santner is also back in MI’s playing XI. They have replaced Ryan Rickelton, Mayank Rawat, Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur.
In Rickelton’s place, 22-year-old Malewar, who represents Vidarbha in domestic cricket, will open the innings for the five-time champions against the 2022 winners.

Rohit Sharma, who missed MI’s last match against Punjab Kings due to a hamstring injury suffered while batting against RCB in Mumbai on April 12, is still not fit to feature.

Mayank among impact subs
Delhi-based Mayank Rawat, who made his IPL debut in MI’s match against Punjab Kings on April 16 but didn’t get the chance to either bat or bowl, is part of the impact subs list along with Raj Bawa, Ashwani Kumar, Corbin Bosch and Raghu Sharma.
There is a high possibility of Punjab-based fast bowler Ashwani Kumar coming in as impact sub for Mumbai Indians against GT. Ashwani made his IPL debut for Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 31 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and picked up 4 wickets for 24 runs in three overs.
He overall has 11 wickets to his name in 7 IPL matches played so far for Mumbai Indians under Hardik Pandya’s leadership.
No change for Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, are playing with an unchanged XI. They have, however, made one change to their starting XI. In place of Rahul Tewatia, Shahrukh Khan is starting for Gujarat Titans against MI after their skipper Shubman Gill opts to bowl first.
GT’s playing XI: Shubman Gill (C), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (WK), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, Prasidh Krishna, Ashok Sharma
GT’s impact subs list: Rahul Tewatia, Jason Holder, Manav Suthar, Kulwant Khejroliya, Anuj Rawat
