A video from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh has taken social media by storm, showing a government doctor dancing inside what appears to be a hospital duty room. The clip features Dr Afkar Siddiqui joyfully
dancing with a woman, identified in reports as his fiancée, as the two match steps to the popular Bollywood song Dum Dum from Band Baaja Baaraat.
The couple looks completely lost in the moment, smiling, twirling and enjoying themselves wholeheartedly. Their chemistry and carefree energy have made the video go viral instantly with thousands of views pouring in within hours.
Reports said that the doctor was celebrating his engagement with his fiancée, and the impromptu performance perfectly captured the love-filled bond. However, the viral moment has also sparked official action. The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Shamli has issued a notice to Dr Siddiqui, asking him to explain why he was dancing inside the duty room. Authorities, meanwhile, are reviewing the matter.
Internet Defends UP Doctor’s Dance
In between this, the public opinion appeared to be heavily in favour of the doctor, with many users questioning why a harmless dance should trigger disciplinary action. Several users jumped to defend the couple, arguing that doctors are human too and deserve moments of happiness. A comment in Hindi read, “Oh brother, so what if he’s a doctor? Was he born on another planet? Some people think doctors are born in the duty room and die there. He danced with his fiancée for two minutes and how is that a sin? Doctors are human too, just like us.”
Another user pointed out that the room in the video may not even be a hospital ward, “Looking at the video, it seems this is not a hospital room but the doctor’s residence. Many doctors treat patients in their quarters after duty hours. If this is the residential room, I don’t see anything wrong with it.”
Someone else added, “Karne do bichare celebrate ker rahey hai, bahut kum logo ko life may aise khushi milti hai. Bhagwan inki jodi salamat rakhe.”
Well, looking at the reactions, it seems the Internet has largely embraced the doctor’s joyful moment.
