Fire breaks out in Mumbai building; woman injured

Mumbai, May 28 (PTI) A woman suffered minor burn injuries after a fire broke out at a five-storey residential building in South Mumbai’s Colaba area on Thursday morning, civic officials said.

The blaze was reported at 7.55 am in Kismat Building, located opposite Sasoon Dock on Shahid Bhagat Singh Marg, they said.

According to officials, the fire was confined to electric wiring and installations, wooden furniture, eatables and curtains in a room on the fifth floor of the structure.

A 50-year-old woman suffered minor burn injuries to her fingers, they said, adding that she refused hospitalisation.

Fire personnel and civic staff rushed to the spot after being alerted.

The blaze was extinguished by 8.12 am. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained,
