Los Angeles, Jun 13 (PTI) Actor Ben Schwartz, known for “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, “Renfield” and “The LEGO Movie”, is set to feature in “The Beatles”, Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part cinematic event on the British band.
According to the entertainment news outlet Variety, the actor will essay the role of New York disc jockey Murray the K. He was among the first DJs in America to play The Beatles on the radio. Although he didn’t perform with the band, he was referred to as “The Fifth Beatle”, because of his relentless promotion of the band when they arrived in the U S.
The actor joins the previously announced cast comprising Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George
Harrison.
Formed in 1960 by Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr, The Beatles became one of the most influential bands in music history with songs such as “Hey Jude”, “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Yesterday”, and “Penny Lane”, before breaking up in 1970.
McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of the late Lennon and Harrison have granted Mendes full life story and music rights for the films, which are slated for release in cinemas in April 2028. PTI ATR ATR
