Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has returned to the stage with his new live show, Still Alive and Unfiltered, after India’s Got Latent controversy. His comeback has already sparked mixed reactions and one viewer who attended a recent Mumbai show shared his honest experience. According to the attendee, the performance had a blend of jokes, personal stories and emotional moments. Samay spoke about anxiety, opened up about his struggles and even joked about how men hide their feelings, which made the show feel real.
The person also described one incident that left them “quite uncomfortable.” A couple sitting in the front row had a small child who made a tiny sound and Samay reacted loudly. He called them out, scolded them and asked them to leave.
Even after the couple shifted many rows back, he again told them to get out. The viewer felt that this reaction did not match the message of kindness that Samay had been talking about moments earlier.
Uncomfortable Incident During Samay Raina’s Latest Show
Taking to Reddit, the individual wrote, “I went to Samay Raina’s show in Mumbai and it was honestly a mix of everything. Funny, emotional, raw, self aware and at one point, quite uncomfortable. Most people know him because of the Latent controversy and the FIRs that followed. After that whole thing blew up, he pretty much became a national talking point. And yes, he absolutely made the best out of that opportunity. But I’ll be real here: the ticket prices were overwhelming. Paying around Rs 4000 per person for a mediocre show felt a bit much.”
According to the attendee, Samay Raina’s comedy style is very different from other well known comedians. He often uses vulgar humour, which he says is a conscious choice. He explained that all performers online act in a way to create a character. Starting with vulgar jokes gives him the flexibility to explore other topics later, while beginning with clean jokes might make it hard to shift tone. Alongside the humour, Samay spoke about his anxiety, got a little emotional on stage and even joked about how men hide their feelings. He also discussed freedom of speech in India and problems with civic sense.
“Now, onto the part that genuinely made me uncomfortable. In the front row, there was a couple with a small child, maybe around two or three years old. The kid made a little noise and out of nowhere, Samay called them out on the mic, used harsh language and told them to leave the show. The couple quietly moved 20 or 30 rows back and then again, Samay asked them to get out. It just felt unnecessarily rude. Especially when he spent a good chunk of the show talking about empathy, society’s flaws, civic behaviour, emotional suppression and all of that,” the redditor added.
He further shared, “If I was sitting there with my wife and kid, it honestly would have ruined my evening. The least he could’ve done was say something like, ‘Sir/Ma’am, could you please move a few rows back, I’m getting a little distracted.’ Instead, it turned into a moment that really didn’t fit the vibe he was preaching. Overall, the show had moments of honesty, humour, emotional depth and self awareness. But the overpriced tickets, mediocre comedy and that one unpleasant interaction with the couple definitely stood out. If anyone here is planning to go, just know you’re signing up for the full unapologetic version of him. For better or worse.”

Another shared, “Good to know from someone what his show is like. I’d never pay 4K for any kind of show. None. 4000 is just way too much money for a few hours of sit down entertainment.”
