Isha Ambani Piramal made a case for Indian weave in her latest look. The entrepreneur wore an all-white outfit by designer Manish Malhotra that was elegance par excellence. She was seen posing in this
serene and classy outfit at her Mumbai home, with the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link in the background.
Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, Isha Ambani looked dignified in a custom outfit by the renowned designer. The fabric used comes from a collection within Swadesh. This is Nita Ambani’s venture to spotlight Indian arts and artisans. It emphasises that India’s artisans — their traditional weaves, crafts and art — deserve global recognition.

Manish shared a few photos of the mum-of-one online and wrote, “The gorgeous @mamamagish in our @swadesh_online × @manishmalhotraworld look — a luminous handwoven chanderi skirt and cotton-silk shirt — is a reminder of why I return to Indian craft , handwoven textile again and again (sic)”.
The 37-year-old, who is the only daughter of Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, and Nita Ambani, founder of the Reliance Foundation, wore a pencil skirt in chanderi fabric, a traditional lightweight textile from Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for its sheer texture and subtle sheen, that is created by weaving silk & cotton with zari (gold/silver threads) on handlooms.

She paired it with a crisp white shirt. However, nothing Isha Ambani does is simple. The visual interest in the shirt was the gold and white buttons, and she cinched her waist with a beaded belt by Birdhichand.
She styled it with white pumps and studded earrings. She added a black strap watch and a few rings as accessories.
However, one of the most interesting pieces from her outfit was the bag she carried. Isha Ambani paired the outfit with a beautiful Chanel bag combo. She carried the gold metal mini cage flap bag from Chanel. But what made people look twice was the Chanel No. 5 perfume bottle that was in fact a bag hanging along with it.
What is Swadesh, a fashion venture by Ambani?
Recently, on December 5, Mumbai’s flagship store for Swadesh was launched at the Eros Building. It was a massive event, with celebrities attending it dressed in their best Indian traditional wear, that highlighted Indian traditional weaves. Celebrities like Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, Sonam Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, and Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor were among some of the actors and fashion icons who attended.
The purpose of Swadesh is to revive India’s artisanal traditions. The fashion brand offers handcrafted luxury from the heart of India. One can buy items from their diverse bouquet of regional treasures that use traditional Indian weaving techniques across art and decor, furniture, home linen, apparel, jewellery and wellness.
