As Bengaluru gears up for Christmas and year-end celebrations, the city traffic police have rolled out a series of advisories and restrictions around key churches and shopping hubs to manage the expected
surge in crowds and vehicles. Special arrangements have been announced for parts of Pulakeshinagar and Mahadevapura, which are likely to witness heavy footfall over the next few days.
With large gatherings anticipated at churches, Davis Road will face traffic restrictions due to celebrations at Holy Ghost Church. The road will be temporarily closed from 7 pm on Wednesday until noon on Thursday between the John Armstrong Road junction and the Cookson Road junction. During this period, commuters have been advised to follow designated diversions to avoid congestion.
Alternative Route
Motorists travelling from Davis Road towards HM Road must turn right at the John Armstrong Road junction, continue straight, take a left onto Viviani Road, followed by another left onto Cookson Road, from where they can rejoin Davis Road. To ensure the smooth movement of vehicles, parking has been completely banned on Davis Road during the restriction period.
In addition to Davis Road, parking will also be prohibited on Banasawadi Main Road, Wheeler’s Road, St John’s Church Road, Haines Road, and Promenade Road. The traffic police have urged motorists to strictly adhere to these restrictions to avoid penalties and prevent bottlenecks.
Crowded Routes
Heavy crowds are also expected near major shopping destinations such as Phoenix Mall, VR Mall, and Nexus Shantiniketan during the holiday shopping peak. Anticipating this rush, traffic curbs will be enforced from noon on Wednesday until 11 pm on December 28. ITPL Main Road will be declared a ‘No Parking’ zone on both sides, stretching from the Shell Petrol Bunk to Garudacharpalya Decathlon, and from Medicare Hospital to the Big Bazaar junction.
Pick-Up And Drop-Off Points
To streamline access to malls, designated pick-up and drop-off points have been announced. Visitors to Phoenix Mall should use the Bescom office area for drop-offs and Lowry Junction for pick-ups. For Nexus Shantiniketan, Rajapalya has been marked as the drop-off point, while Aster Hospital will serve as the pick-up location.
Vehicles approaching from Hoodi or KR Puram have been instructed to turn at the Shell Petrol Bunk and take the Railway Parallel Road to access the mall through the rear gate. The traffic police have appealed to commuters to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with on-ground personnel to ensure a hassle-free festive season.
