Amaravati, May 18 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the proposed Royal Enfield’s integrated motorcycle manufacturing project in Tirupati district involves an investment of nearly Rs 2,500 crore with the capacity to produce nine lakh motorcycles per annum.
The project is expected to generate nearly 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, creating significant economic activity and industrial growth in the region, he said, following a meeting with a delegation led by Royal Enfield’s chief executive B Govindarajan.
Expressing pleasure over Royal Enfield’s first electric motorcycle, Naidu promised a strong green energy ecosystem for the company’s electric vehicle (EV) journey.
“The proposed (Royal
Enfield) project involves an investment of nearly Rs 2,500 crore and a manufacturing capacity of 9 lakh motorcycles per annum. The project will include a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, testing track, R&D centre, and a dedicated vendor park ecosystem,” Naidu said in a post on ‘X’.
Assuring continued support for the project proposed at Vaneluru and Rallakuppam villages in Satyavedu mandal of Tirupati district, the CM promised speedy clearance and accelerated execution.
“Our goal is to help complete the project in 18 months instead of the proposed 24 months,” Naidu said, noting that the southern state’s speed-of-doing-business will ensure that the project moves faster, calling on Royal Enfield to match it with equal speed in project execution.
Further, the CM deliberated with the Royal Enfield team on the future of sustainable mobility and Andhra Pradesh’s “growing leadership” in energy transition through large-scale development of solar, wind, pumped storage, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and other renewable energy ecosystems.
As India moves towards cleaner mobility and energy security, Andhra Pradesh is committed to building the infrastructure, manufacturing ecosystem, and policy support required to emerge as a major hub for future mobility, advanced manufacturing, and green industrial growth, Naidu added. PTI STH KH
