External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will visit Ukraine and Poland from September 3 to 5, the Ministry of External Affairs said. Jaishankar will hold bilateral consultations with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski during the three-day visit, the MEA said. The trip comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to move from an “endless war” to an “end of war” in the Ukraine conflict.
Jaishankar’s Ukraine, Poland Visit
According to the MEA, Jaishankar’s visit is aimed at strengthening India’s bilateral relations with Ukraine and Poland. He will also exchange views with his counterparts on regional developments and issues of mutual
interest. The minister’s visit to Ukraine follows PM Modi’s meeting with Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Bishkek on August 31.
During the meeting, PM Modi said India supports all peaceful efforts to resolve the conflict and called for an end to the war.
“We have to move from a situation of ‘endless war’ to ‘end of war’,” PM Modi said in his joint statement with Putin, adding, “It is humanity’s wish that the end of this war happens soonest.”
PM Modi also told Putin that India supports “all peaceful methods” to resolve the impasse.
“We keep discussing the matter of Ukraine and the last time we met too, you had explained the situation to me in great detail. As you know, India supports all peaceful methods,” PM Modi said, continuing, “India advocates for resolving all problems peacefully, which is necessary for all of humanity.”
Jaishankar’s visit will take place just days before India hosts the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on September 12 and 13. India, which holds the BRICS chairship in 2026, is expected to host leaders including Putin at the summit.
