Pinkie Roshan, the mother of Hrithik Roshan and wife of veteran director Rakesh Roshan, celebrated the posthumous Padma Vibhushan honour bestowed on her cherished “uncle,” late Bollywood icon Dharmendra,
with a touching Instagram post.
The second-highest civilian honour in India was announced on the eve of Republic Day, recognising Dharmendra’s lifetime contribution to Indian cinema. Pinkie reminisced about the love and warmth she received growing up around Dharmendra in her poignant statement, expressing a bittersweet longing that he could have witnessed the recognition for himself.
Pinkie Roshan’s Emotional Tribute to Dharmendra
In her social media tribute, Pinkie Roshan shared a photograph of Dharmendra alongside her touching reflections on his influence in her life. She noted that her “dearest uncle,” who she described as the “most gentle and kind human”, was an essential part of her upbringing and family.
“My Heart feels elated as my Dearest Uncle, Dharmendra, who is part of my childhood as family, is being honoured by our Govt. Felt his warmth and love as I grew up, being the most gentle and kind human who will continue to live in my Heart,” Pinkie shared in the caption.
While overjoyed at the honour, Pinkie sorrowfully added that she wished Dharmendra could see the moment himself, even as his legacy “remains deeply felt”.
“I just wish he could have witnessed this Himself – His Legacy remains deeply felt. Love you Uncle,” Pinkie added.

Padma Vibhushan for Dharmendra Posthumously
Dharmendra, who died on November 24, 2025, left behind a cinematic legacy spanning more than six decades. He is fondly referred to as the “He-Man” of Hindi cinema, and his body of work consists of both blockbusters and masterpieces that shaped several generations.
It was announced on Sunday that Dharmendra would receive the Padma Vibhushan, while Satish Shah will get the Padma Shri, posthumously. Besides these two, other industry professionals who have won Padma Awards include actor R Madhavan (Padma Shri), and Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who will also win Padma Bhushan.
Actress Esha Deol and Dharmendra’s daughter expressed her happiness at her late father receiving the Padma Vibhushan award in the Republic of India. “Happy Republic Day. Really happy that our papa is being conferred with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan Award (folded hands emoji),” Esha posted on social media.
