Indian television has seen plenty of grand romances, but Tod Kar Dil Mera is clearly aiming for something quieter. The newly released promo sets the tone early. It is about what happens after the wedding rituals are done and real life settles in. The story leans into the idea that love is shaped by everyday decisions, not just big promises.
Created by Sachin Pandey, known for Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar, the show asks a simple but uncomfortable question. Can love survive when two people bring different habits, values, and worldviews into the same home? The promo suggests the answer is not easy. Or guaranteed.
“Deewana-deewani ki yeh jodi hai bahut khaas! Dono hain ek-dusre se alag, magar phir bhi hain ek-dusre ke
bahut paas! Inke pyaar bhare safar mein shamil hone ke liye taiyaar ho jaaiye,” reads the caption alongside the promo.
A moment that says more than words
The promo opens on Raj and Raushni adjusting to married life. Raj speaks with confidence, saying he always believed their journey would be beautiful. Even though the marriage is arranged, he reassures Raushni that she never needs to censor herself around him. It feels sincere. Almost fragile.
Then comes the moment that shifts everything. Raushni hesitantly admits she loves chicken biryani, even though his family is strictly vegetarian. Raj pauses. You can feel the weight of that silence. What follows is unexpected. He takes her out on his scooty, leaves her anxious for a moment, then stops at a biryani shop. He buys her chicken biryani. He feeds her himself. Later, he even tastes it.
Where love meets reality
That biryani scene is doing more work than it seems. It shows Raj choosing Raushni over routine, comfort, and upbringing. It shows Raushni beginning to trust. But the promo is careful not to sell this as a fairytale. The warmth comes with a question mark. Will these compromises hold when the stakes get higher?
What separates Tod Kar Dil Mera from typical romance dramas is its restraint. There is no rush to exaggerate conflict. The focus stays on quiet adjustments, unspoken emotions, and the cracks that appear when ideals clash with reality. Marriage here is not perfect. It is lived-in.
Starring Anurima Chakraborty as Raushni and Ashish Raghav as Raj, the show is set against the culturally rich backdrop of Lucknow. As the story unfolds, the central question remains. Will this be a story of growing together, or falling apart?
Tod Kar Dil Mera premieres on January 19 at 7 PM.
