Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso backed English international Trent Alexander-Arnold despite his slow start to his career at the Capital City club.
World Cup winner and former Real Madrid midfielder Alonso
noted the 27-year-old’s quality and opined that full back just requires some time to settle into life in Spain.
“I think we will see a better Trent. Without doubt, it’s positive after the injury he could do 90 minutes against Elche, 90 against Olympiacos,” Alonso began.
“We need him. It’s his first year and it’s normal to have this adaption period. He’s starting to feel like himself,” Los Blancos boss continued.
“He is demanding too, he plays at a top, top level. We have to be there for him, in this change that is so big for him, but it’s good news,” Alonso said.
Alonso also added injury update revealing Antonio Rudiger, Eder Militao and Franco Mastantuono are back in training while Dean Huijsen would be sidelined for the leaders’ league fixture against Girona.
“Rudiger and Militao are both back available, as well as Franco Mastantuono,” the Spaniard said.
“Mastantuono is now finally training without any pain. He’s training without discomfort or pain, and he’s training at that pace. We decided to stop because he was playing through pain, but he’s recovered now. Huijsen is not back yet. He needs some more time,” he further added.
Alonso went on to laud Alexander-Arnold’s international teammate Jude Bellingham shedding light on his constant desire to keep bettering himself.
“I have very good communication with Jude, a very good relationship. He’s a top world-class star, but he has this desire to improve, to learn, to be more efficient with the big potential he’s got,” said Alonso.
“I like these players with this curiosity and initiative to ask what we can do better,” he said.
