Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs might face a major prison sentence on charges related to sex trafficking and racketeering in New York. Prosecutors have recommended that he should be sentenced to 11 years in prison and fined $500,000. Combs was found guilty in July of forcing male sex workers to travel to his homes and hotels, to sleep with his girlfriends while he watched and recorded the scene.
During the hearings, prosecutors compared Diddy’s matter with other cases where offenders used violence to control victims.
As per Associated Press, the latest developments in Diddy’s case came after his girlfriend, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, urged a federal judge not to show mercy, saying she and others fear for their safety if he gets released.
Prosecutors submitted
letters from Cassie, her parents and four other victims. One of Combs’ ex-girlfriends, who testified under the name Jane, claimed that over several years, he forced her to do various things with male workers.
Prosecutors Recommend 11 Years In Prison
Judge Arun Subramanian refused Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ attempt to cancel his conviction. Combs’ lawyers had argued that he was just an amateur pornographer and not involved in prostitution, but the judge did not accept their argument. The court also confirmed that finding him guilty did not go against his First Amendment rights.
Several of Diddy’s former employees spoke about the harm he caused and told the court to take strict action. A former assistant, who claimed Combs raped her in 2010, told the judge that he’s still a danger. They claimed that his money and fame should not keep him from getting punished.
Another ex-employee, Capricorn Clark, recalled that Combs had once forced her to join him while threatening someone with a gun and said that prison time could be the only way he’ll understand consequences.
A stylist named Deonte Nash also demanded a strict sentence that can help victims heal. Combs’ former personal chef, Jourdan-Cha’Taun Atkinson, said she was very frightened when she was contacted to testify and shared that Combs was aware of the subpoena. She described him as dangerous and someone who remembers grudges.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ lawyers are asking the court to give him a prison sentence of 14 months or less. If the court agrees, he can be released very soon because he has already spent almost 13 months in a federal jail in Brooklyn.
