He is part of the 359-player list that will go under the hammer in the IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. Virandeep is one of the four cricketers in the world who has completed the trio of scoring 100 runs, smacking 100 sixes and taking 100 wickets in T20Is.
Virandeep has played a total of 110 T20I matches so far for Malaysia since making his debut against Thailand in Kuala Lumpur on June 24, 2019. In those 110 matches, he has scored 3115 runs in 103 innings and picked up 109 wickets.

Virandeep, who holds the world record of winning most Player Of The Match (POTM) awards in T20Is, has registered himself for a base price of Rs 30 lakh in the IPL 2026 auction.
In the last 18 years many players from associate nations have featured in the IPL, but if picked, then Virandeep will become the first cricketer to ever play in the IPL from Malaysia.
The last cricketer to play in the IPL from an associate nation was Sandeep Lamichhane. Sandeep, who represents Nepal in international cricket, played nine IPL matches for Delhi Capitals from 2018 to 2019 and dismissed 13 batters.
The other associate players who have featured in the IPL include the likes of Dirk Nannes and Ryan ten Doeschate. Nannes, who played for the Netherlands before switching to Australia, represented three IPL teams – Delhi Capitals, CSK and RCB – in a total of 29 matches and dismissed 28 batters. On the other hand, Ryan ten Doeschate played 26 IPL matches for Kolkata Knight Riders and scored 326 runs. He won two IPL titles with KKR as a player in 2012 and 2014 under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, and in the 2024 edition, when KKR won their third IPL title, he was part of the support staff.
After Gambhir was appointed as India’s head coach in July 2024, he included Ten Doeschate in his support staff as assistant coach.
