A video from a temple in India is making the rounds on social media, showing massive crowds jostling for space during darshan. Shared on X (formerly Twitter), the clip has sparked concern among viewers over the chaotic scenes unfolding India’s pilgrimage destinations.
The caption accompanying the post described the visuals as a “horrifying scene of crowds gathered at temples for darshan.” It further claimed that “a woman and a young girl were crushed in the crowd,” adding that such incidents occur because of “blind faith,” while authorities are later blamed for the resulting tragedies.
The video quickly caught the attention of users online. When one user asked about its location, Elon Musk’s xAI’s Grok chatbot stated that the clip was from the from the Banke
Bihari Temple in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, and that it was an incident from June 2025, when devotees were reportedly injured in a rush.

The video ignited discussion about temple safety and crowd management, especially during major festivals and weekends when pilgrim numbers surge. Many users expressed concern that such uncontrolled gatherings could easily turn into stampedes, as seen in past tragedies at other religious sites.
A user said that one can feel God’s presence even while sitting at home, but people fail to understand that. The user added that devotees should visit temples only when it’s less crowded.
Ghar main baithkar ya kisi jungle main ped ke niche baithkar bhi bhagwan darshan hote hain, yeh na to kisiko samajh ata hain aur na hi koi samjhate hain. Khali waqt jao mandir. Itne bheed main to bhagwan bhi vaha nahi baithe honge.

Another user questioned why people risk their lives in crowded temples, saying that it doesn’t offer any spiritual reward. The real wisdom is to stay safe and practice faith carefully, not blindly, added the user.
One user warned that indisciplined crowds can become chaotic and dangerous, posing serious risks, especially for women and children.

Another comment criticised how faith has been commercialised these days, turning it into a business.
धर्म के तथाकथित ठेकेदारों ने लोगों को … बना रखा है,
केवल धंधाQuestioning the logic of joining massive and chaotic crowds for religious rituals, one user said that true devotion doesn’t require waiting for special crowded days. The user also shared a personal example of not visiting a temple on festivals or special days.
The visuals, showing hordes of people pressing forward, some visibly struggling to move, serve as a reminder of the urgent need for better crowd management at India’s busiest temples.
