A festive film release, packed theatres and Megastar mania — the mix proved explosive at one cinema over the weekend. A video that surfaced on social media shows fans of Chiranjeevi clashing inside a theatre after several people allegedly entered without tickets to watch Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, triggering arguments and physical scuffles over seating.
The incident reportedly took place on Sunday at a theatre believed to be in Andhra Pradesh. Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, hit theatres on January 12 ahead of Sankranthi and has been performing strongly at the box office, collecting ₹292 crore worldwide so far. The film stars Chiranjeevi and Nayanthara in lead roles.
The video was shared on Instagram by a user named
Pavani, who claimed she had gone to watch the film with her family on Sunday afternoon after being unable to get tickets for the morning show. Despite purchasing multiple tickets, she alleged that her family could find only one seat, as many fans had already occupied seats without tickets.
According to her account, the audience initially continued watching the film despite the overcrowding. However, the situation escalated after the interval when more people without tickets reportedly entered the hall and took over seats, leading to heated arguments between ticket holders and those occupying seats illegally. The video captures the film playing on screen as shouting turns into pushing and hitting among viewers.
Sharing the clip, the Instagram user wrote, “Movie kosam kottukovadam enti (Who fights over a movie?)”
The video quickly drew reactions from other social media users, many of whom questioned the role of the theatre management. One user commented, “Mari hall management emi chestundi (What is the hall management doing?)” Another wrote, “Megastar movie ite anthe (That’s how it is with Megastar movie).” A third questioned the response of the audience, asking, “Complaint cheyakunda kindha kurchovadam entandi (Why would you sit on the floor instead of complaining?)” Another remark read, “Movie kosam kottukovadam mana India ke sadyam (It’s only possible in India to fight over movies).”
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu is written and directed by Anil Ravipudi and also features a cameo by Venkatesh. The film follows the story of Shankara Vara Prasad, a national security officer who attempts to protect his estranged wife and children, seeing the mission as an opportunity to reunite with his family. While the film has seen strong box office numbers, it has received mixed reviews from critics.
