New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) US Ambassador Sergio Gor on Thursday extended his best wishes to India’s new High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi and said as the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, he looked forward to “working closely” with him.
The US envoy also shared on X a photo of him with Trivedi.
“Wishing High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi @ihcdhaka all the very best as he assumes his important role as India’s new High Commissioner to Bangladesh. As the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, I look forward to working closely with him,” Gor posted.
Trivedi succeeded Pranay Verma, who has been appointed as New Delhi’s next ambassador to Belgium and the European Union (EU).
Verma played a role in initiating the efforts to reset
the ties after the new Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) government, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, came to power in February.
The Indian government has accorded the rank of cabinet minister to Trivedi, signalling the importance it attaches to relations with Dhaka. PTI KND KND KVK KVK
