Star New Zealand and Kolkata Knight Riders batter Finn Allen’s dismissal has raised questions, with certain visuals showing that Digvesh Rathi’s foot might have touched the boundary line while taking the catch, as KKR take on the Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens on Thursday.
Allen was caught in the deep third-man region as Rathi took a high catch near the boundary rope.
Despite Rathi’s foot being so close to the boundary rope, Allen was given out without a detailed review to confirm whether the catch was clean.
Replays later indicated that Rathi’s left foot may have been on the boundary rope, making Allen’s dismissal far from clear-cut.
Allen was dismissed in the second over of the innings off Prince Yadav’s delivery, having scored nine
runs from eight balls, including two fours.
Replays of the catch showed Rathi misjudging the ball before tracking back and holding on. The third umpire reviewed the catch for cleanliness and confirmed it was valid.
But fans weren’t happy with the call, with most suggesting that Rathi did touch the rope with the ball in his hand.
“POOR UMPIRING CONTINUES IN IPL. Digvesh Rathi today claimed Finn Allen’s catch at the boundary in KKR vs LSG match,” a user tweeted on Thursday evening.

“How are umpires and captains fine with boundary catches not even being reviewed once before asking the batter to walk off?” another user questioned.
