Alia Bhatt created history after she won her sixth Filmfare Award for Best Actress for her film Jigra. While audiences welcomed the decision of awarding Alia Bhatt with the trophy five times previously
for her films Udta Punjab, Raazi, Gully Boy, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, it looks like this year the decision didn’t sit well with netizens.
Reddit has taken this up to discuss if the actress really deserved a trophy for Jigra, and now she is getting quite a lot of backlash. While reacting to the win, one wrote, “Alia is desperate for validation because deep down she knows nothing about her stardom feels earned. Everything — her wins, her films, the endless PR push — is so carefully manufactured that it’s hard to take her ‘success’ seriously. That’s why no matter how many awards or magazine covers she gets, she still gives off that insecurity; she knows it’s all built on connections, not genuine talent or struggle.”

“Alia Bhatt single-handedly made me a Filmfare hater. Does she REALLY deserve these many awards?” another user wrote. “Things like these are the reason she will never be likable no matter how big she becomes as an actress,” another one added.
“Last year her fans were saying that she won because her movie was a hit and you can’t win the popular one if your movie flopped at the box office. Soooo tell us, what happened here?” one questioned. “The best thing to come out of this is — now when her stans defend her saying she works hard and that’s why she’s given movies, we can just throw Filmfare Best Actress Popular 2025 awardee right in their face. No one can defend this 😂,” another one wrote. “Awards have lost all credibility for real. What clownery,” another comment reads. “I want to know from Alia Bhatt fans if they genuinely are happy with her winning… I don’t even hate her, but with these things, I feel like they are making people dislike her more,” another user wrote.
About Jigra
While Jigra opened to a modest Rs 4.25 crore on its first day, marking the lowest opening for an Alia Bhatt-led film in a decade, the movie’s performance was considered disappointing, especially because it was released during the festive Dussehra period, a time when films typically see a surge in ticket sales.
