Directed and written by Boyapati Sreenu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is a Telugu-language fantasy action thriller that hit theatres on December 12, 2025. The film was released in multiple formats, including 3D, 2D and EPIQ. Audience response to the film was mixed, with praise directed at Balakrishna’s screen presence, the film’s thematic elements, its music, and overall pacing.
Akhanda 2 isn’t just a film. It’s a statement. Not preachy. Not confused. Just firm in what it wants to say.
A film that reminds people why Sanatana Dharma has survived centuries of pressure.
Cinema like this takes courage. It speaks about responsibility, faith, and standing up… pic.twitter.com/tKxBdscBDy

The story unfolds against the backdrop of a national crisis after a neighbouring country launches a devastating biowarfare attack during India’s Maha Kumbh Mela. The assault contaminates the sacred gathering with a deadly virus, placing the fate of millions at risk. At the centre of the crisis is Janani, a gifted young scientist whose work becomes critical in finding a cure. Forced to flee, she is protected by Akhanda, her fierce Aghori guardian, who returns to confront dark forces and sorcery while restoring faith and order, alongside his twin, Murali Krishna.
The film features Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead, with Samyuktha playing Archana Goswami and Aadhi Pinisetty appearing as Netra. Harshaali Malhotra essays the role of Janani, while Viji Chandrasekhar is seen as Dharani. The ensemble cast also includes Jagapathi Babu as Aghora Baba, Kabir Duhan Singh as Ajit Thakur, Saswata Chatterjee as Chang, Sangay Tsheltrim as Xiang Lee, Avinash Yelandur as Ramachandriah, and Ravi Prakash as Vishal Trivedi, among others.
