India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill represents Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League, and on Thursday (April 30) during GT’s ninth match of IPL 2026, which is taking place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he entered his name in the history books by becoming the first player to hit 100 sixes in the IPL for Gujarat Titans.

The 26-year-old right-handed batter from Punjab needed 3 sixes to take his tally of maximums to 100, and he achieved the objective by smacking RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood for a couple of sixes in the second over of the 156-run chase.
Gill, who scored 43 runs from just 18 balls on Thursday, scored his first six of the match
on the third ball of the first over bowled by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. His second six came off Hazlewood’s bowling on the fourth ball of the second over. Gill then scored his landmark 100th six as a GT player on the sixth ball of that same over.
In the list of batters with most sixes for the Ahmedabad-based franchise in the IPL, Gill is followed by Sai Sudharsan, who has slammed 69 sixes so far.

The record of hitting most sixes for one team in the IPL is held by Virat Kohli. Kohli, who scored 28 runs from 13 balls for RCB on Thursday, has slammed 306 maximums in 276 IPL matches for the Bengaluru-based franchise.
He is the only player in the world to hit 300-plus sixes for one team in the IPL.
In the list of batters with most sixes for one team in the IPL, Kohli is followed by Rohit Sharma.
Rohit Sharma, who is out of action these days, has slammed a total of 259 sixes in 231 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians.
Gill, who is GT’s highest run-getter in the IPL, overall has scored 136 sixes in the cash-rich league. Before joining GT ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, he was associated with Kolkata Knight Riders from 2008 to 2021. He played 58 matches for them and scored 1417 runs in addition to hitting 36 sixes.
