Social media has been buzzing with posts about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi ever since he wreaked havoc in the IPL 2026 Eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The fearless prodigy toyed with the SRH bowlers, smashing 12 sixes and five fours to score 97 off just 29 balls. His blistering knock ensured Rajasthan Royals’ smooth entry into Qualifier 2, where they will face Gujarat Titans on Friday evening.
Sooryavanshi has been an asset for the Rajasthan Royals since making his debut last season. He is the franchise’s top scorer this year, currently sitting on 680 runs in 15 games. Even before being picked by RR in the 2025 mega auction, the teenager had been making headlines for his batting exploits. Surprisingly, RR faced minimal competition when they
went after him at the auction.
The video from the IPL 2025 mega auctions, which took place in Jeddah, has resurfaced on social media. RR indulged in a bidding war with Delhi Capitals, who eventually gave at Rs 1.1 crore. No other team challenged the Royals, making it an easy heist for the inaugural champions.

Those who didn’t show interest in Sooryavanshi back then, when he was just 13, must be regretting now. In a season where players with hefty price tags have failed miserably, an uncapped batter with a price tag of Rs 1.1 crore is returning rich dividends.
Sooryavanshi will once again be central to Rajasthan Royals’ hopes when they face Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2 on Friday. GT pacers Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada have troubled him before with short balls, but the 15-year-old arrives fresh from a stunning 97 off 29 in the Eliminator. On another flat track, he is expected to attack relentlessly.
Royals continue to rely heavily on Sooryavanshi and Jofra Archer, while Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel have played supporting roles. GT, meanwhile, depend on their top three, Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. Their bowling remains a strength despite a poor outing against RCB. If they bounce back collectively, the Titans could hold the edge in a high-scoring contest.
