Gurugram is a city of shining skyscrapers, upscale malls and bustling multinational corporations. The city, part of the National Capital Region (NCR), has transformed rapidly over the past few years. And nowhere is this change more evident than in a throwback video circulating on X. The clip shows how Gurugram looked in 2004, highlighting the stark contrast between the city then and how it is now.
The video was shared by an account named Sidharth Shukla on X. The caption states that this is how Gurugram looked when the user first visited the area in 2006.
Throwback Video Of Gurugram Goes Viral
The clip shows a dusty area with small shops, dug-up roads and roadside stalls. There is a person getting ready to receive a haircut and shave from a barber
under the shade of a tree. People are going along the main road with herds of cows and donkeys. The sepia-toned filter gives the video a nostalgic vibe.
The video was posted with the caption, “I visited Gurgaon for the first time in 2006 but yep, looked pretty much like this. Golf course did not even exist back then. It was being laid.”

Another explained, “Most of the development kicked in post 2010, the metro, Westin hotel, rapid metro, construction around golf course road, golf course extn was like one of those hollywood style badlands with just a couple of petrol pumps on the stretch with Nirvana coming up with Sohna road etc.”

However, one person disagreed with the point being made by the clip and claimed that most of Gurugram still looks as shown in the video.
Most parts of Gurgaon still look like this. It's only the Cyber City that looks anything modern and clean.

An individual complained that a lack of urban planning spoiled Gurugram’s development.
They could have planned it well like Chandigarh instead mimicked glass buildings from west and planned ZERO waste / civic management
