Previously, Abhishek Bachchan also penned an emotional note applauding the young actor for taking on the responsibility of portraying a national hero with dignity and respect. “Agastya, this is a huge honour and responsibility. A huge hero of our nation. I am sure you have given him the respect, valour, and dignity he truly deserves. You are an immensely sincere actor, and your dedication to portraying Arun Ji is so commendable. May God and the audience bless you,” he wrote.
Ikkis shares the inspiring story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal – India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. Khetarpal took on the enemy head-on during the Battle of Basantar, destroying 10 Pakistani tanks before losing his life.
Ikkis was released on January 1 and received largely positive reviews. An excerpt from News18 Showsha’s review of the film reads, “Ikkis is a must-watch for reasons more than one – Raghavan’s fresh perspective on war films, Dharmendra’s emotional last on-screen presence, Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat’s sincere performances and above all, learn about Arun Khetarpal’s sacrifice for his motherland when he was just ‘Ikkis’.”
