Mumbai, Sep 30 (PTI) Blackstone-backed ASK Investment Managers on Wednesday said it has entered into definitive agreements to acquire asset manager SageOne Investment Managers to strengthen its equity investments.
While the official statement did not disclose the acquisition amount, people in the know pegged the consideration between Rs 1,500 and 2,000 crore.
SageOne founder and chief investment officer Samit Vartak will reinvest an undisclosed amount in ASK and become chief investment officer (equities) of the combined asset management business, the release said.
Blackstone will remain the majority shareholder of the combined platform, it said.
Founded in 2012, SO has over Rs 9,000 crore of assets under management across its portfolio management services
and alternative investment funds. The combined AUM of the merged business will be Rs 85,000 crore, the statement said.
The transaction, subject to regulatory and investor approvals, will also help ASK Investment Managers strengthen its investment talent, distribution and have a global institutional network, the release said.
SageOne Core Portfolio has delivered annualised returns of 25.3 per cent between April 1, 2012, and August 31, 2026, compared with 13.8 per cent for the BSE 500 TRI, according to the company. Over the last three years, it delivered annualised returns of 19.4 per cent against 12.1 per cent for the benchmark.
