Drishyam Co star Meena Pens Emotional Note
Taking to her Instagram handle, Meena shared a series of photos from the celebration and wrote, “To call Lalettan a co star is an honour, but to call him a friend is a blessing. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Mohanlal shared photographs from the event and wrote, “Bringing Georgekutty’s world alive once again…Today marks the beginning of Drishyam 3 with the Pooja. #Drishyam3 #JeethuJoseph #AashirvadCinemas #Drishyam.” Speaking to reporters, Mohanlal expressed his joy at receiving the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. On reprising his iconic role of Georgekutty, he said, “No doubt Georgekutty will create some trouble. But I have been told not to reveal much. The suspense is the excitement and catch of Drishyam 3.”
Legacy of the Drishyam series
The original Drishyam (2013) and its sequel Drishyam 2 (2021) were pan-India successes, earning remakes in multiple languages, including Hindi, Sinhala, Mandarin, and Korean. The films have been celebrated for their gripping storytelling and engaging family drama elements.
Director Jeethu Joseph advised audiences to approach Drishyam 3 with curiosity rather than high expectations. “This film is not a thriller but a family drama, focusing on how Georgekutty’s family has changed over the last four years,” he said.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor called the day unforgettable and noted the symbolic importance of beginning the film shortly after Mohanlal’s award announcement.
