In the fifth T20I against India, Buttler added 233 runs from just 102 balls for the second wicket with England captain Harry Brook (95 off 45 balls) to help the hosts post 257/3 in their allotted 20 overs.
The knock of 131 by Buttler also helped him break the record for the highest individual score against India in T20I cricket.
Before Buttler’s innings, the record for the highest individual score against India in a T20I belonged to West Indies batter Evin Lewis.
Lewis opened the innings for the Men in Maroon against India in Kingston on July 9, 2017, and played an unbeaten knock of 125 runs from 62 balls. During that innings, the left-handed batter smashed six sixes and 12 fours for the hosts.
If England manage to get the better of India in the fifth T20I, they will clinch the series 4-0 and also move to the No. 1 position in the ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings.
