The Australian skipper got charged up after getting engaged in a war of words with England pacer Jofra Archer, and he made him pay for it by smacking the Barbados-born cricketer for a four and a six. The incident took place during the ninth over of Australia’s second innings in the 65-run chase.

Smith scored a boundary on the first ball bowled by Archer, and the English seamer bowled a bouncer on the second to leave Smith clueless. After bowling a bouncer, Archer and Smith got engaged in a war of words, and the legendary Australian batter gave it back

to Archer by hitting him for a four on the third ball.

The boundary irritated Archer, and he again said something to Smith. And this time Smith hammered Archer for a six on the fourth ball to again take the upper hand.

Smith remained unbeaten on 23 runs from 9 balls for Australia in the 65-run chase and he sealed the deal by hitting Gus Atkinson for a six on the last ball of the 10th over.

The visitors resumed day four on 134-6, trailing by 43 runs, before a rearguard action by Ben Stokes (50) and Will Jacks (41) helped set a target of 65.
